By / 04.19.2011

This is the best eye candy We’ve have seen in a long time, and it’s useful too! Lauren Willhite created Color Collective as a designers’ resource for color. The color palettes are pulled from the work of various designers, artists, and photographers that she is inspired by. http://color-collective.blogspot.com/

The next few posts will be inspired by a project we are currently working on for a very glamourous, fun client. We are updating a beautiful apartment with materials, furnishings, & fixtures to gracefully meld with the existing eccentric and charming decor. Here is collection of chandeliers & pendants that would be perfect for the extraordinary space.

Christian Lacroix for Designer’s Guild

By / 03.29.2011

There is a lovely new Home Collection from Christian Lacroix at Designer’s Guild.

“Since its inception in 1987, the house of Christian Lacroix has electrified the fashion world with its many collections inspired by gypsy and Provencal traditions and by the flamboyant Haute Couture scene in Paris and London during the swinging 60s. The house now shows Menswear and accessories, womens accessories, eye wear, a line of stationery, fragrance and of course Furnishing fabrics under worldwide license with Designers Guild.”

This digitally printed panel design can be used either way up. Exquisite flowers and foliage cascade down or reach for the turquoise sky, which gradients subtly from dark to light.

Framed pictorial scenes of the city of Arles decorate this  design printed on a linen union, accentuated with a background pattern in metallic tones.

This kaleidoscopic all-over pattern is iconic of Lacroix. Luxurious cut velvet pile in the most gorgeous of shades either contrast with stylish metallic grounds or have grounds dyed the same colour.

A contemporary multicolour striped design, digitally printed on a cotton poplin ground to achieve the exquisite colour shading and hand-painted feel.

This cleverly designed jacquard woven panel recreates a glorious panorama and brings together all of the iconic architecture and monuments for which the city of Arles is known.

Dining by Design

By / 03.21.2011

We attended the 2011 NYC Architectural Digest Home Design Show on Friday. They held a showcase called Dining by Design which included 40 one of a kind dining environments to help DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) which provides funds for direct care for people living with AIDS/HIV, and preventive education. Here are a few of our favorites:

Undecorate

There is a lovely new book out by  the founder of Dwell Studio, Christiane Lemieux: Undecorate: The No Rules Approach to Interior Design (Potter New York). Powerhouse Books (www.powerhousebooks.com) is a great bookstore and publisher located in the Dumbo Neighborhood of Brooklyn, which always has beautiful art books and a new housewares section, come to find out. This was for sale there and I couldn’t resist.

Undecorate profiles twenty homes from all over the country, revealing their owners’ love of imperfection and penchant for surprise and unusual juxtapositions while inspiring readers to follow their own whimsy and practicalities in their personal spaces.     www.dwellstudio.com/undecorate.html

Think Spring

By / 03.10.2011

One sign that Spring is on the way  is when artisans are changing window and showroom displays all over town preparing to show off the new 2011 Spring Collections. We visited the Designer’s Guild Showroom yesterday, and that is exactly what they were busy doing. One of their latest collections is called Miami. And that is the perfect name for it. Just looking at it makes you feel tropical.

Fabulous, fun printed fabrics inspired by the architecture, colours and subtropical flora of southern Florida and the Florida Keys. Designs are graphic, exuberant and bold and are designed with both the young and the young at heart in mind! - www.designersguild.com
